The SageTV Placeshifter software was worlds better than Orb from my tests. Much better video quality, especially with variable connection speeds.
SageTV has much better media extender support than MCE. Overall, it did a better job than anything I tried including Tivo and MCE.
My wife had a much easier time with SageTV.
